·  Nickel oxide can be reacted with acids to form salts and other compounds e.g. nickel sulfamate for electroplating and nickel molybdate for hydrodesulfurisation catalysts

·  Gold doped nickel oxide films can be used as transparent electrodes in optoelectronic devices
